For soap makers

Know what to make, what to order, and what to fix today

Where soap businesses lose track

  • Dozens of formulas share a handful of oils. One price change on olive oil or shea butter affects every bar, and nobody recalculates them all.
  • Bulk oils arrive in kilograms or pounds and recipes use grams or ounces, so stock and cost drift when conversions are done by hand.
  • Before a big batch you want to know if there is enough oil, lye and fragrance, and what the batch will really cost, before you start weighing.

What you set up once

Materials
Oils, butters, lye, fragrance and essential oils, colorants, additives, molds, wrapping and boxes, with units, cost and minimum stock.
Recipes
One recipe per product with the ingredient quantities you enter, and the number of bars or the weight a batch yields. Costs update when an ingredient price changes.
Products
Each bar or variant as a product with selling price and finished stock.
Suppliers and orders
Suppliers, lead times on materials, and purchase orders for restocking that you can receive into stock.

Illustrative example

How a price change reaches your margins

  1. 1You receive a new delivery of olive oil at a higher price per kilogram.
  2. 2The moving average cost of olive oil updates, and every recipe that uses it is recalculated.
  3. 3Today flags any soap whose selling price is now below its cost, or whose margin has dropped under your target.
  4. 4You review the numbers and choose whether to reprice, reformulate or accept the margin.

How it works day to day

Produce a batch

Record a batch and Loomenio deducts every oil, butter, lye and additive in the recipe and adds the bars to stock. The batch keeps a code and the cost per unit at that time.

Check before you start

See how many bars you can make from current stock and what is short, with the cost of buying the shortfall.

Stay ahead of reorders

Set a minimum level and lead time on shared oils. Low stock is flagged before it becomes a stockout, and Today suggests a reorder quantity.

Capture from a note

Optionally dictate or type "used 2 kg olive oil" or "made 48 lavender bars" and AI Capture proposes the operation for you to confirm.

AI is optional and only helps with input. Stock, costs and capacity are calculated by the system, and you review every proposed change before it is saved.

What Loomenio does not do

  • Loomenio is not a lye calculator or formulation tool. It stores your recipe quantities, it does not design or validate soap formulas.
  • There is no cure timer or curing status. Record the batch when the bars should count as sellable stock, or keep cure dates in the batch note.
  • There are no lot numbers, expiry dates or regulatory documents.

Questions from soap makers

What is the best inventory software for soap makers?

The most useful software for soap makers connects ingredients to recipes and production, so a batch deducts what it used and costs update with ingredient prices. Loomenio does that and adds a Today screen with make, buy and fix priorities. It does not design formulas or calculate lye.

Can Loomenio track soap curing?

Not as a status or timer. Loomenio tracks materials, recipes, batches and finished stock. If bars need weeks to cure, record the batch when you want them counted as stock, or note the cure-ready date in the batch note.

How do I cost a soap recipe?

Add each ingredient and its quantity to the recipe. Loomenio multiplies by the current cost of each material, converts units where needed, and shows the cost per bar. Recipes can also carry packaging, labor and overhead costs for the batch, so add the ones you want included in the cost per bar.

Can I import my soap ingredient list from a spreadsheet?

Yes. Export it as CSV and import materials, products and recipe ingredient lines. Columns are matched automatically and you review every row before saving.
